Biography

My name is Rick Burry and I have been teaching for more than 20 years. I graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland and moved to Medicine Hat in 1988. At present I am the grade 8-9 homeroom teacher and the principal designate for MHCS. I also serve as our school's representative on SD 76 P.D. council and as the teacher rep for the school's Student Council.

As well as being the grade 8-9 homeroom teacher I also teach Math in grades 7,8 and 9, grade 8-9 Language Arts, grade 7,8,and 9 Bible and Junior High Art. I simply enjoy working with junior high students knowing that God is using me to help develop a group of young adults that will hopefully serve Him joyfully. I believe that every student, no matter what their academic ability may be, has God given gifts and talents and that each and everyone of them needs to be given the opportunity to explore and develop these gifts in a safe and secure Christian environment. I am pleased to be a part of a school district that also recognizes that parents in Medicine Hat should have a choice of the type of education that their child receives.

Joshua 1:9 paraphrased says- Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous, to not be afraid, because I am with you wherever you go. What great comfort this verse brings to me. In this verse God doesn't just give me a command and abandon me to fend for myself, but he tells me why. Why, because he will walk through every moment of my life with me never leaving no matter what happens or what choices I make.
